In today’s fast-paced world, creating a balance between eating healthy and quickly (on the go) can be challenging. In these circumstances, one often ends up making poor choices and consuming large amounts of processed food and calories that are detrimental to one’s health.

This need for quick and easy food inspired Twisted Indian Wraps to bring a unique take to the fast-food industry, where meals are prepared slowly (the meat is marinated overnight), but served within five minutes—without a chef. The franchise is obsessed with serving nutritious dishes made from scratch; everything is freshly prepared in-house using real ingredients, and the meals are produced with a mild flavour, but can be customized to any spice level.

Enter franchisee Nick Knox, who discovered Twisted Indian Wraps in June 2019. At the time, Knox was leaving the construction industry to pursue his passion for food. After eating at the restaurant, he immediately became interested in learning more about the business. Knox loved the flavours and the company’s knowledge of the latest food trends. The franchise offers vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and keto-friendly options, using healthy ingredients such as ginger, garlic, and turmeric.

Further, Knox was drawn to the concept since it does not require a cook. This gave him the confidence to run this franchise by following simple recipes. Its menu adheres to the ‘build-your-own-meal’ model, which provides customers the freedom to customize their salads, rice bowls, Indian roti wraps, and kebab burgers.

“The franchisors have 50 years of collective food industry experience, and they have simplified the concept so anyone can run the business,” said Knox.

With the franchisors’ experience in instruction, having trained 32 owners for another company, Knox knew he was in good hands with excellent operational guidance and support. In December 2019, he opened his restaurant in Wasaga Beach, Ont., and his goal is to open another location in Collingwood, Ont., by 2021.

“I love Twisted Indian, and I know it’s going to be in many places,” said Knox.
